If you have arch windows at home, you're one of the lucky ones
who have some beautiful window styles which simply add elegance and character to your room. The proper
arch window coverings can enhance this beauty and complement your home ambient perfectly,
while at the same time remove some of the sunlight that might directly hit the room. Sadly arch windows
are some of the most difficult types of windows to find good coverings for.
When you want to buy arch window coverings, you have a few options
to choose from. For example you might go for fixed or movable arch window blinds. If you go for fixed, these
will be closed all the time, and this option is mostly used for people who don't use the windows for light.
If you go instead for movable blinds, you are able to open the window so the sunshine can come through every
day.
The next question is what kind of material you want to buy for
your coverings. There are ample of options here, ranging between PVC, wood or cellular. Basically the cellular
is a soft covering while wood is considered hard. There are some modern options available nowadays that
open remotely. These allow opening of vents with the touch of a button, however the openings are so small
that they don't provide that much sunlight to enter the room. This could be though an option when you don't
care much about extra lighting in your room.
Another thing you need to make sure before purchasing your blinds
is to take actual measurements of your window. Will you be mounting your coverings on the inside or the
outside of the window? Each of these will have different measurements to take. If you are going for the
inside type, it is very easy to measure. Simply measure the height and width of the window inside. When
you want to mount it outside, you need to measure the arch at its highest points. This is because the height
will be the same as the width for the exterior.
Depending where you buy your arch window coverings, you might order
by mail or internet. The manufacturer or seller might ask you for a template of the window. This is not
difficult to make, all you need to do is get yourself some butcher paper and tape it to your window. Then
trace and cut the inside width for an inside placement or otherwise add the outside diameter to the tracing
in case you want an external mount. Write on the template which is 'top', which is 'inside' and which is'
outside', to not confuse them.
Arched windows are very popular in houses with vaulted ceilings
or very large entry areas (in big homes). So it is important the type of arch window coverings that you
will be using in your home. Don't rush buying the first thing, make a careful research before that.
